Snow and Ice
Today was a SNOW day at the academy where Andrew attends and at the college where I work. Since we live on campus, I ended up working the whole day in the office. The students enjoyed a little bit of time off to catch up on homework!!! Here are some shots that I was able to take.
Tree covered with ice is in our front yard.
The shrubbery in front of the Ad Building was covered with ice.
The sun shone a little bit at the end of the day. Notice colorful sky in the background!!

Fun in January
Our social life is picking up again after the Christmas rush. Andrew has been begging me to have his cousins over for some games, so Friday night I had Chad's kids over. The Sannes boys were also able to come over. We had a great time. The younger ones played Sorry, Lincoln Logs, race tracks, etc. and the rest of us played Pit and Dutch Blitz. We all had a great time!!!! Little John cried when he had to go home.
This evening we went over to the college for a Chinese meal hosted by our cook Ron High Rock aided by Debbie Goodenow who once lived in Taiwan. It was very delicious. They served it in courses. Better than a Chinese restaurant!! We stopped by Mom's for some mint ice cream on the way home. Andrew, Stan, and Mom played Tiddly Winks. Long winter evenings lend themselves to memory making.

The Ferris Wheel
Stan and Andrew worked on this ferris wheel from a K'nex set that Andrew received for Christmas. It is battery run and goes around. To reward their efforts, I now have it sitting on my kitchen table.

More snow . . .
This is a line of trees across the field from the Ad Building where I work.
The neighbor's property is so picturesque in any season.
This is the view outside my office window. I have enjoyed the snow this year, so far!!

More Snow on Saturday
Andrew headed out again on Saturday to enjoy some more sledding. He joined his cousins, Caleb, Christian, and John. Stan took this cute shot.

Snow on a Friday Evening
Andrew and I headed out this evening with a sled. Brittany, Brooke, Lori, and Stephanie joined us on the long hill behind Rhoades Hall. Of course, Andrew and I managed to stop at Grandma's for a cup of hot chocolate.

Loving the Routine
The excitement of the holidays with all the secrets, gifts, meals, parties, and games is over. Now I am back to the routine of heading to work, sending Andrew back to school....I find myself relishing the thought of routine. I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation, but there is something about getting back to the routine that is fresh and new as I venture into 2009!
When I consider the news about the world conflicts and economics, I can easily feel overwhelmed. But somehow I keep hearing the voice of the Master saying, "Peace, be still!" Whatever may lie ahead during 2009, it is always reassuring to know that the Prince of Peace will be right there with me. Nothing takes Him by surprise!
Grant unto me your servant:
To my God--a heart of flame
To my fellow men--a heart of love
To myself--a heart of steal.
--Augustine (adapted)
